Opera is coming out!
The LGBTQI+ family is an important part of the staff, artists, musicians, audience, and partners of all great opera houses around the world. In fact, the art of opera would not exist without the LGBTQI+ community.
To celebrate Pride is a natural part of who we are. But what do we aim to achieve by committing? How do we work with inclusion and diversity in our organizations? And how could we work together to make our world a more LGBTQI+ inclusive place? To answer these questions and more, four opera houses based in World Pride hosting cities meet at the World Pride House in Malmö.
Live on stage are Malmö Opera and The Royal Danish Opera of Copenhagen. Joining live online are The Met in New York, that participated in the World Pride of 2019 and Sydney Opera House in Sydney where events will take place in 2023.
The host of the event is the Swedish opera singer Rickard Söderberg. The event will be available worldwide on free livestream and later on the Copenhagen 2021.
Following the local Covid-19 restrictions, a smaller audience will also be welcome to the auditorium of Malmö live Kuben.
